Charging for an API isn't necessarily bad, a fairly priced API with service/feature level guarantees could make for better clients (I asked Twitter for this often). But doing that correctly is complex. How do you deal with trials? Multiple account/devices? Incredibly heavy users? Lots and lots of questions.

Reddit hasn't answered or even given hints to any of those. All I've seen is very vague wording, which does nothing more than cause FUD for developers and users.
