I just saw a reply guy on here arguing that "reply guy" is just a bubble-defining slur against people whose opinions you don't want to engage with.
A quick look at reply guy's bio and he is all about the Church of The SubGenius signifiers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_the_SubGenius
There's substantial Venn diagram overlap between annoying internet trolls, people who think SubGenius stuff is entertaining, and people who hide trolling behind "I'm just here to ask questions and challenge your opinions" nonsense.
