It’s valuable to learn some basic skills to be able to fix things yourself. Not just basic car maintenance like changing a tire or battery, but also home maintenance - things like fixing a tap, replacing a door lock, repairing a hole in a wall, painting etc. Some basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronics are also great skills to have. Many people have no idea how to do these things now..
Every time I change a tire I think about the growing population who has no idea how to.
