We don't get out of this hole by mobilising a small part of our resources and waiting for technological innovation and some incentives for the private sector to do the trick on the side while we carry on as usual. By insisting that every clean alternative be "competitive" with unsustainable dirty infrastructure paid for over decades, without accounting for externalities, without assigning any value to long term habitability in our planet. Time has run out for that.
At this point, we get out of this hole by large-scale government-led mobilisation that requires some sacrifice now to have a tomorrow. That will dawn on us sooner or later. Preferably sooner. If we can't organise that we risk collapse.
