that is strange since i don't think i ever watched the 1963 movie… however, i'm pretty sure the first time i read the novel was back in ussr and translated into russian… and that translation of course could never contain any negative mention of ussr as the source of the infestation, so… that must be why my memory is unclear. definitely, a reread is long due.
