As an individualist, it breaks my brain to think that this “must be” the case. But even as (arguably) eusocial as humans have evolved to be, preservation of self is still the primary driver for every individual.

“Nobody cares” is not a statement about myself, or my beliefs or judgements. It’s a simple extrapolation from this fact that people “mostly” care to preserve themselves.

As an individualist, i fully support this. I believe that “better humans make better society” and that “better” is best made by an individual rather than anyone else.

But this puts me in an awkward spot when i (as a social human) do sometimes feel that “nobody cares” about the world in which i live.

My world view is mine alone to enjoy.
