The pandemic and other factors, from even before the pandemic, have complicated that. And I'm not actually sure what the longterm viability of that approach really is. Racist violence and policies have had an impact, of course, and the current moves to wreck tertiary ed in this country may reduce the perceived value of a US diploma in favor of those from other countries who also recruit students from the same pools.
