That's true but much fewer torrent clients are webtorrent compatible (libtorrent does support it) and hosting only the torrents is still lighter than hosting the stack for a full peertube installation.

(I still think peertube should support conventional torrent protocol + webseeds too. I'm seeing conflicting information on whether it already does.)

As for storage, even if one isn't quite reasonable, building a storage array with used enterprise drives & best practices for scrubbing can get one pretty far on a lower budget.

The backup story gets bleak though. Either another array needed or tape, but the drives for tape are very expensive when in a good/functional state. With popular/highly-seeded video the importance of the resilience of one's backups is reduced, but one can't necessarily rely on that.
