Yes, your software may have full-text search, but hashtags have additional powers over regular words:
- Readers often can subscribe to hashtags, so they may have your post in their timeline even if they don’t subscribe to your account, yet.
- there are tools to transfer posts with specific hashtags between instances, so even if you don’t have subscribers / followers on an instance the posts may still be visible there.
