I just realized why DOGE is using deferred resignation programs (DRP) to get rid of as many federal workers as they can, rather than just firing all of them.
People who take the DRP and get put on paid administrative leave are still "employed" so they don't show up in the monthly unemployment numbers.
Trump & Musk don't want the unemployment numbers to be accurate because it'll make Trump look bad and accelerate the economic crash.
Has anybody seen this pointed out elsewhere?
