The synchrotron is a “nuclear facility” like the local x-ray joint, just much more powerful. Seems like this was an ignorant attempt at “even nuclear reactors need solar power” but this really missed the mark. Even our actual nuclear reactor doesn’t generate power because that would be very different than generating neutrons for research.
