You know … when
I)ruid (npub1san…qjdd) and I first started the nostrmeet.me project, THIS was his pet, a peer-to-peer identity verification layer for Nostr. His NIVS whitepaper introduced a distinct event type where npubs could verify each other by signing. (link?)
But the architecture is not what keeps this idea (and all other explicit attestations of trust) from seeing daylight.
Everybody knows that “most” people will not bother to “explicitly attest” for each other, and those that do will prolly game the system.
However, using My Grapevine as a backstop, providing “implied” attestations and spam protection, might help to draw actual user participation.
A hybrid solution may be the key … but yea … participation is the door to open.
