I know absolutely nothing about #UKLaw so please start from that basis, but is anyone able to explain why and how defendants can be forbidden from mentioning specific subjects in their defence? Specifically why people who take #DirectAction as part of #ExtinctionRebellion or #JustStopOil are not allowed to mention the #ClimateCrisis? Specifically what's the point of allowing a defence if people aren't allowed to say why they did what they did - does this apply to other crimes?
