One can probably quibble over how “left wing” the candidates are but that’s how they are perceived and they don’t run from it. And I would quibble with some of the finance claims.
But it’s mythical that there’s a secret stash of left voters who just aren’t motivated to show up but will if the most left candidate runs.
There’s more to it than that.
