While doing his chemo my big brother and his girlfriend met a truly wonderful French lady sitting next to them. She has terminal cancer but comes in once a week for chemo. The three of them spoke for hours and while he slept she wrote him a letter.

I only know a few things about her. She rides bikes without helmets, travels the world with her husband and ‘doesn’t let fear eat her soul’. She loves to live. I can’t share the letter because it’s so personal it feels wrong, but I can say that she addressed it to ‘the two love birds in the chemo suit’. When I read the letter I almost cried. I wish I could have shown you. She gave some very beautiful advice.

She thanked them for making the day bearable, and I want to thank her for making my brothers first day go by so quickly. People like her are extraordinary. I hope to meet her soon.
