I would write about girls who know they’re lesbians, like Sumika Murasame or Ushio Kazama in ‘Sasameki Koto’ or Akira Okudaira in ‘Aoi Hana.’ Maybe I’d give a boy in a dress a happy ending. Name them what they are, not disguising it: cross-dresser, trans, non-binary, gender-fluid, whatever they think they are. A happy world without guys staring at you or grabbing your ass on the train.”
