The state of native Linux phones is very discouraging.
The ARM architecture/platform really needs some kind of hardware interface standards like VESA so every single model isn't a completely bespoke thing that takes tons of effort to reverse-engineer.
I was getting really excited about pmOS and SXMO this morning until I looked up the actual hardware support and it's either very buggy hardware (original PinePhone, Librem5) or fairly partial driver support.
