It would be an interesting way to spend an afternoon by looking at what wait times and access was like 50 years ago and whether we would consider that acceptable today. There is also a political angle as you say. Personally, I have zero issue with people getting rich off healthcare provision and making fat profits. All I want is amazing care for my family. Profits may lead to higher costs, but they are historically also pretty good motivators.
