Hash formats are the same (SHA256) but with one (big) caveat: NIP-96 allows for the server to transform the content (unless explicitly disabled) and in this case the hash in the url does not match the content returned from the API any more.
NIP-96 also allows different (custom) url endpoints afair - so building the URLs is more flexible but less straightforward than with blossom.
