it's a great scifi idea but the literal physics make it non viable.

Unlike sending information signals, the magnitude of the signal is the important part of beaming power. We can receive data and info from Voyager space craft by listening harder/ using a bigger receiver. But power is the strength of the signal.

Signal strength is reduced by inverse square of distance. Japan did a 6-10 mile distance test and had 99% power loss.

Geostationary is ~22,000 miles.

Unless some tech can overcome that, you simply can't get usable power across that distance without a solar array larger than 100s of sq miles in size.

For the far less cost and resources, you could power the entire planet via terrestrial installs.
