In a certain corner of the internet, the topic of color blindness has come up anew because of some drama surrounding TED Talk and Coleman Hughes. Even saw someone repost Kendi coincidentally bringing it up on LinkedIn, obviously taking the opposite position as Hughes. I haven't watched the new debate video. But basically, Hughes did a TED Talk back in May that was in support of color blindness as an ideal and mental framework. But the organization got back to him saying that they were not going to publish that talk on their YouTube channel. Through back and forth, they were convinced to publish it recently with the added caveat that there would need to be a longer formal debate about it. I'm trying to think back to when the position Hughes has been taking became so controversial even if I see how it could conjure up quite a bit of cynicism.
