The Levites didn't ask every individual Israelite if they were sure they wanted their sins put off during Yam Kippur, they made the sacrifice and it happened.
I think the question of free will in regards to what Christ supposedly accomplished is an anachronistic question. It's supposed to be a cosmic change, and you are beneath the cosmos on the hierarchy of being. The idea that man's will is the highest order of priority comes from the Enlightenment.
It plays a role, for sure, but it's not what the Gospel is about.
