jack (npub1s8g…ldqa) awesome nosbin tool to share here:

Does anyone have estimates of relay carrying capacity?
How many connections would a 1vcpu/2GB/100GB relay allow versus a 4vcpu/8GB/200GB for example?
I’ve assumed a relay will support 1000 Users per 1vcpu/2GB memory but if anyone has better assumptions on this I can tweak the model.
On those assumptions relays should be charging about 5,775 ⚡️ per User on the relay with breakeven at 67% capacity. Obviously every operators costs will differ as will the service they provide (for example nostr.com.au will also give you free NIP05) but this is a guide for people to understand what costs are needed to run nostr.
Users are probably going to need $20 to have a spam-free experience on paid relays. Ideally this shifts to a 12/month contract model where upfront costs are less and Users can more easily switch if relay operators are too censorious.
