your point about having to clean the air everything time you open the front door is a good illustration of how difficult it is to retrofit an apartment where the air immediately outside the door is dangerous. It is so so much easier when air outside the doors is safe (and windows, vents, and all the penetrations in the walls we think are closed but actually leak air)
