Low wages and the dreadful benefits system need to change. A friend of mine is seriously ill, his wife is his carer and also works part-time in a care home. She tops up her minimum wage with the carers allowance. Just before Xmas her manager asked her to work an extra 2 hours to cover for someone off sick. Consequently she lost her allowance for the month.
