My personal experience is very unspectacular. I have to say that I have been eating very clean and organically for many many years. Practically no fast food, no industrially prepared food, almost never go to restaurants and I prepare everything myself from scratch. So I don't have as much to detox as others who go vegan or raw. Smoothies and juices have always been part of my daily diet, since going vegan.
What has definitely changed is the mindset. Not giving in to every craving. Because it is exciting to observe how the cells and especially the nervous system react when I see someone eating pizza, or walk past a bakery and smell the warm, fresh bread. Then saliva forms in the mouth and the thoughts immediately turn to the delicious texture and taste of these dishes. Or when I'm tired, the thought comes to me how delicious a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce would be right now, or any other comfort food etc. But to be honest, I can observe and regulate myself really well. I then immediately think about what I can replace this craving with. For example, I make cucumber spaghetti with cashew Alfredo sauce with lots of nutritional yeast :)
What has changed? At the beginning of the raw food diet, I needed large quantities to feel full and not to have a craving for chocolate afterwards. Ah, of course I make my own raw vegan chocolate sweetened with dates or lucuma powder ;)
Now I don't need such large quantities anymore. Everything regulates itself. At the beginning I couldn't sleep well for weeks, but that has also settled down again. The nice thing is that my husband joins in as long as I "cook"...:) And I think it makes it easier, since my kids have already left the nest...I don't know what it would be like if there were children in my own household, whether it would be so easy.
In any case, the whole body system regulates itself with the raw food diet. Weight, wake-sleep rhythm, feeling of hunger, etc. And that makes me even more empathetic and appreciative of the real food that are given to us here on earth 🌞
I keep going with raw...I haven't set a goal or anything. I'm just going to keep going and see where it goes. I have a feeling that I will be moving towards a mono fruitarian diet...eventually... one step at a time 💚
