It's genuinely the best single-player tabletop activity that I've tried so far. Other solo games were perhaps more exciting at first sometimes, but Ex Novo is the only one I keep coming back to regularly (and it also results in beautiful maps and worldbuilding to collect as memories, kind of like polaroid photos!)
It also helps with creative endeavours. Often, inspiration for new (gamedev, writing, ...) projects starts from old Ex Novo cities I made.
