Operant Conditioning is a little more complex. It was developed by Thorndike and BF Skinner in the 1950s and 60s.

Here, the system uses reward, lack of reward, and punishment to train for a specific behavior. For example, rats learning how to run a maze.

Reward is called Positive Reinforcement. This sets in place a reinforcement of the desired behavior.

Lack of reward is called Negative Reinforcement. There's no reward for a desired behavior. This can suppress that behavior if continued.
