Quote posting can be a manipulative person's technique to split a thread into 2 threads, to make it more difficult to keep both sides of the discussion represented for all readers (especially whichever side is more outnumbered)
Jack Dorsey's malware model is designed to enable manipulative echo chambering techniques and other stuff like this. Quote posts create the issue, and the "follow me" narcissist echo chamber style of feed curation makes it worse (easy for one side to be outnumbered when people are obsessed with "following" online personas here + the UI drives it to the max)
#nostr being based on that model is possibly its biggest issue and red flag
