The main reason I think I've come to prefer snake_case is that it doesn't give extra weight to secondary words in a name.
For example: darkOliveGreen vs. dark_olive_green
The camelCase one seems to give extra attention to the "OliveGreen" part just because of how the words get capitalized and that bugs me. 😛
It works well in cases like:
darkBlue, lightBlue, etc.. because the prefix all seems to modify Blue.
But use them next to normal blue:
darkBlue
lightBlue
blue
Argh - blue is so sad!
