It might not get rendered in your note because it's a kind 1 note. I think verbiricha (npub107j…ncxg) started writing markdown in kind 1 notes but that drove fiatjaf (npub180c…h6w6) crazy. So that nip came into existence.
Don't know anymore where I heard it and if it's true, but well there is the nip.
