We often think of social media as a "popularity contest", and in many ways that fits the attitude some of the more "successful" influencers take.
And for me the great charm of Mastodon was that it breaks the influencer model.
What I noticed this week was quite a few people who used to be here on Mastodon, but left months ago in search of a bigger audience at BlueSky. And that kinda hurt!
As an introvert, that actually hit a unique sore bone.
