the tax kicker in oregon is $5.6b this year, there are ~18k homeless people in oregon, if the state were to give each of these people $1k/month for a year, it would cost ~$220m over the year, or 4% of the kicker.
i'm not naive about why things are the way they are, but the kicker is an awful reminder of how so much immiseration is a policy choice intentionally made by elected fuckwads.
