Letter: You Are Right to Worry About the Economy

America is on an unsustainable fiscal path with rising federal debt and increased government spending. Tax revenues remain above their 50-year average, but spending has grown to a historically high level. Retirees have pitted Democrats against Republicans to avoid benefit cuts, and policy makers are unlikely to raise middle-class taxes. Without accelerating productivity growth, this is reckless driving. Americans are rightly alarmed.
