I find myself really missing our sweet girl Summer this evening. She was the “doggiest” dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. We rescued her when our son-in-law spotted her as a stray on the side of the road, just skin and bones and eating roadkill. She was full of parasites and had parvo. She beat the odds and became an instantly beloved member of the family. Penny, our Dachshund, immediately took to her. Sadie the Chihuahua took longer, but Summer won her over, just as she did everyone who met her. She never really lost her stray instincts, constantly on sentry duty. But she loved with her whole heart, and she will always be in mine. I miss you terribly, SummaSumma.
