I interviewed for the job I have now when i was 22 and didn't get it. If I had, I'd be retiring by now. I got an MFA program but took six years. I wrote a timely book, but it was too timely, and I was young when I wrote it I didn't know how much work it still needed. I feel like if I'd just stuck with any one something a little longer, I wouldn't have so little to show for my efforts.
