📢 New paper out: Microbiome turnover during offspring development varies with maternal care, but not moult, in a hemimetabolous insect
☝ We tested the effect of molting and maternal care on the microbiome of the European earwig. We found that the diversity of the microbiome shifted between developmental stages, rather than during molting. Maternal care shaped the microbiome of both juvenile and adult offspring.
