Been thinking a bit about Bluesky vs Fediverse lately. We'll see if it coalesces into anything substantial.
In short: I don't think the Fediverse competes with Bluesky, and I don't think Bluesky is going to be federated at any point (for the same reason why Reddit never federated).
They have different basic assumption and modes of interaction.
I also don't think the Fediverse is going to become a global hegemonic system any time soon. It'll keep doing well on the margins though.
