"content": "#Doom on #GBA was the first proper time I played Doom seriously, and it wasn't really ideal on the old non-backlit GBA screen, but I grew up playing classic GB by lamp light. \n\nThe game has some interesting censorship going on. Green blood. ULTRA VIOLENCE is no longer a difficulty, Nightmare was basically classic UV. Some satanic references were dropped. Stuff you'd probably expect, based off Nintendo's public image.\n\nSome levels are simplified, and graciously E3M2 Slough of Despair is omitted from the game. Though the GBA port functions allows you to carry over all your weapons between episodes, nice.\n\nThe controls are pretty decent, shoulder buttons function as dedicated directional strafe, but holding both down and pressing up and down to cycle weapons? That's rough. Especially in a heated combat.\n\nHonestly, as far as a port goes and the fact it is portable?
