One thing that strikes me that Hoare mentioned a couple times but didn't really analyze, is that several issues were decided in a hurry. (And it was ever thus.) I don't know the history of Rust, but I wonder why certain things were rushed. Would the language have turned out more to his liking if those decisions had been postponed?",
