I still can’t figure out why people get so fired up over relay policy…what am I missing? Last I checked, one can choose to only receive blocks, not transactions, and not relay anything at all…
Is it good that consensus rules permit data storage? Maybe, maybe not, but definitely not for JPG’s and dick picks. When non-standard transactions get mined, bad stuff happens for miners and non-miners. There are probably fewer nonstandard transactions getting mined because of relay policy, but how much resource consumption will occur because of permitting spam txs to be relayed? If it’s a lot, then perhaps a soft fork is necessary.
