I have a character who is "good with the computer" experimental psychologist at CUNY (but I don't call it that) uses linux.
If she had to investigate what is basically a haunted jpeg what software would she use to check the hue and saturation of various pixels of the image?
I'd rather not mention gimp because the name is ... IDK weren't they going to change that?
It's a jpeg where different people see different things. She's determined to get to the bottom of it.
