Because of this, people often live in areas where public transportation doesn't make economic or environmental sense. Why send an entire train to pick up 20 people? For me, the closest city (only 100,000 people) is 30 miles away. The entire town is made up of around 1,000 people if you include all the outlying areas. There is not a one and done solution that works for everyone or every place. Our country is far too diverse.
