If everyone were to reject everything “new” because “there are no large scale examples to observe”, science wouldn’t exist. Someone needs to do the work for there to be something to observe.
As for nation states, I’d bet none of them would be able to sustain their power once the economic collapse invoked by climate catastrophes begins to settle in.
