DrJeff (npub1k7v…c04l) I’m trying to orange pill my buddy who is an FBI agent… smart dude, watches the market, dabbles in various assets and is a big believer in SPY.
I sent him pretty much the text of the post with the same numbers and the chart. This was his response:
Shout-out to the S&P 500 which, since 1959(!), is up a total of 37% relative to #gold and up 41% relative to the US M2 monetary supply.
Said another way, the appreciation of gold, US stocks, and the US M2 monetary supply are all about the same over long periods of time.
Nominal gains are an illusion... 👀
To increase your purchasing power over time, you need to outpace the ever-increasing M2 monetary supply.
