Cell phone bans in schools are fundamentally authoritarian. Teachers will come up with all kinds of reasons why they're justified, when really the question should be: why do you think you should have that much control over a captive audience who are legally forced to be there?
The incredible arrogance of taking people's shit away from them just because you've decided you don't want them to have it. I can never get over it, even ""good"" teachers are so confident in their right to the position of authority they hold, their right to control kids.
