I've lost touch with so many friends from my 20s as our social media becomes increasingly fractured. LinkedIn is now the only place where I've consistently maintained some connections (and only work contacts in the last 10 years)
My paper and electronic address books haven't been able to keep up in decades. The first smart phones came out well into my 20s, and I still look back and wonder who half of the 6 different Allisons in my phone contacts are, let alone the many Davids and Christines and Eileens. Which of these two numbers for the same person is current? Which Dana was the devastatingly hot one? What do I do with the contact info for the people who are dead?
For all its failures (plus genocide), Facebook was the one most reliable place to reach friends from 20+ years back. Now? 🤷🏼♀️ Just a few phone numbers work. 😞
