I am deeply suspicious of those who are telling us to wait and see.
When #Meta arrives, so will the fascists.
#Mastodon is not perfect, but to a significant level, that pure daily hatred that drives people away has been absent. That's not just my demographic (CIS, white, left): the #Trans population is apparently much better protected here than elsewhere. Likewise others in the LGBTQ+ communities.
That is what we lose when the likes of #Meta turn up.
