"content": "I don't know if Jesus was God, but if he was, and his mission was to unify the world into a single hierarchy, he would have done something very like what the New Testament claims he did. He is the myth of the king in its highest possible instantiation. If it's a myth, it's amazing that primitive people were able to conceive of it. No one **today** could conceive of it if we didn't already have it.\n\nMy main gripe is just that the world wasn't unified. In many ways it got better, but in many ways it also got worse, and the idea that we have to wait for a return for the effects to magically come into being doesn't make a whole lot of sense, unless the 2nd Coming is nothing more than a metaphor for the sacraments, then there might be something to it.\n\nI've been a Christian too, though, and the sacraments don't actually do anything, much to the chagrin of trads. Maybe they cause some kind of psychological effect, but no one who participates in them is changed, they're still the exact same assholes they were before they went in, so I have a hard time with that interpretation too.",
