This makes sense. I think I should make a distinction...
If a client can tell me "hey, this follow of yours is also active on nostr.twitter.com and on nostr.stamp.collectors" then that's incredible and great, sensible information and I can still have a brand relationship to these relays.
But nostr users today are in the spray notes mentality (and clients are underwriting this mentality) where relays have no real brand or semantics -- relays are just hoping to be seen and be found by smart clients.
That is the model that seems wrong because it is the source of some key issues with nostr right now: client bandwidth, missing parent notes, and long latencies (ie, no way to id which relay is dragging my ux).
If we changed away from these model, so many things would be solved, we'd still have censorship resistance, and smart clients with discovery would actually offer that really cool experience.
